Rating of Idea's by Mark Rewhorn
Entry Date: 260508
We’ve all been there. The end of a long brainstorming session, then the facilitator says, “OK, now before we finish, I’d just like to rank these ideas.....” Then we’re there half the night!
I don’t know why people get so emotive about the placing of values between 1 and 10 on an idea, but they do. Perhaps a psychiatrist will one day explain it to me in simple terms that I might understand. Until then, I have a system that is quick, stops all arguments, and works.
You can only use the following numbers....
1 (The idea isn’t worth anything.)
3 (The idea might be worth looking further into.)
9 (The idea is really a good one.)
This will stop all the arguments (and hopefully the late nights where you could be at home with your loved ones) dead in their tracks. Allow no concessions, apply it rigidly.
Try it.
